Midland Railway Square

Full Steam Ahead

The Shunting Yards at Midland Railway Square were once an industrial area for working, gathering, politics and ceremonies. The old railway lines lay dormant in the pavement still, a reminder of old times, paving the way for a refreshed future for the site.

Bold entry statements welcome visitors to the precinct, featuring strong linear elements that form a subtle wayfinding aspect, and pay respect to the old train lines running through the area.  Interpretative signage shares the story of the Shunting Yards and the significance of the larger placemaking project revitalising Midland Railway Square, incorporating bespoke furniture, public artworks and custom lighting to create a unique space within the heart of Midland.
